The Persistent Cat
Thunderous sounds filled the room. Then whining.
Who knew one cat could cause so much noise?
His whining for attention had turned into a banging on the closet door.
Most likely he was after a plastic bag. Plastic bags were his favorite “toy” to play with.
He resumed his whining. Then more pounding. Then more whining.
I was loath to get up from my seat. I did not want to encourage the behavior.
The pounding stopped. Somehow this didn’t feel like the win I had hoped for. I turned around in time to see a tail slip into the closet.
Fighting Like Cats and Dogs
Motron might be the bigger cat, but Mando was scrappy.
Mando’s smaller body allowed him to pounce and run to places that Motron’s chunky body would not allow him to go.
When the two fought, Mando gave as good as he got. That was how Motron found himself in a sort of hold with Mando laying on top of part of his head.
They were brothers through and through. Born on the same day, in the same litter, and of course adopted at the same time. They genuinely acted like siblings. They were fighting one moment, and loving the next.
There Is Always a Way
Motron is a cute chunky fifteen pound kitty. His favorite things are napping and eating food.
So when the automatic feeder was installed, he was very interested in how it worked. He could see there was food inside, but he couldn’t get to it. This was frustrating
He did like that it gave him food three times a day. But what about the other food? The food inside? He tried licking the container, but that didn’t taste like food. He tried pawing at it.
Finally, he jumped on it and managed to knock it over. His perseverance paid off. Food!

While I spend time getting my next serial story ready, these are some of my favorite cat drabbles previously published.
We have a pair of dachshund sisters, same litter, who are just like human siblings. Very different personalities: one who is in constant motion, the other who would like nothing better than snuggling on the couch with mommy, receiving treats at judicious intervals. They will fuss over treats and toys, but they also sleep together in the same manner they have since day 1.
